You called Trump Hitler. Enjoy Biden and Sanders

Kevin D. Williamson at National Review is ramping up the rhetoric and blasting Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders. Just what the writer's purpose is eludes me because both Quid Pro Joe and Breadline Bernie fall far short of being worse than Hitler, which means Williamson must vote for them.

According to Williamson and his masters at National Review, Hitler is our president now. I remember Williamson's reporting of the day The Father-Führer -- as National Review and Williamson later referred to him -- entered the presidential race.

"Witless Ape Rides Escalator" was the headline.

His report began, "Donald Trump may be the man America needs. Having been through four bankruptcies, the ridiculous buffoon with the worst taste since Caligula is uniquely positioned to lead the most indebted organization in the history of the human race."

The report said, "Donald Trump, being Donald Trump, announced his candidacy at Trump Tower, making a weird grand entrance via escalator — going down, of course, the symbolism of which is lost on that witless ape. But who could witness that scene — the self-made man who started with nothing but a modest portfolio of 27,000 New York City properties acquired by his millionaire slumlord father, barely out of his latest bankruptcy and possibly headed for another one as the casino/jiggle-joint bearing his name sinks into the filthy mire of the one U.S. city that makes Las Vegas look respectable, a reality-television grotesque with his plastic-surgery-disaster wife, grunting like a baboon about our country’s 'brand' and his own vast wealth — and not see the peerless sign of our times?

"On the substance, Trump is — how to put it gently? Oh, why bother! — an ass. Not just an ass, but an ass of exceptionally intense asininity. China? 'China’s leaders are like Tom Brady, and the U.S. is like a high-school football team,' Trump says. And so, we should do what?"

A year later, Obama picked up on Williamson's theme and asked what magic wand Donald Trump has to bring back jobs.

On Obama's watch, America had a net loss of 372,000 manufacturing jobs.

Under President Donald John Trump, America has had a net gain of 479,000 manufacturing jobs. (See Item 10.)

And Williamson of course could not resist writing, "He claims to have a plan for defeating ISIS, but he cannot say what it is for reasons of operational security for the mission that exists only in his mind."

Al Baghdadi is now all Bagdeady, isn't he? Magicians never reveal their secrets.

Williamson later told the people of Garbutt, New York, that their loss of a factory is the way capitalism crumbles, apparently forgetting how he dismissed Fred Trump's astonishing son-of-an-immigrant success, dismissing him a slumlord. I also don't get how owning 27,000 properties in New York City is only a modest success. How many such properties are in Williamson's portfolio?

4 years later, his face caked in egg, Williamson tries to extricate himself from the idiocy he shackled himself in not just opposing Donald John Trump but in making personal attacks, not only on him but President Trump's wife and supporters as well.

Williamson wrote, "Joe Biden: Not a Socialist, Just a Scoundrel."

He included no references to the looks of Biden's wife. Instead, he wrote, "He is a vicious self-serving political hack, for one thing, one whose ambition leads him from time to time into shocking indecency. You may have heard that Biden lost his [first] wife and daughter in a horrifying drunk-driving wreck, the fault of a monster of a man who irresponsibly 'drank his lunch,' as Biden puts it.

"Never happened.

"Biden’s wife and daughter did, in fact, die in a car wreck. That is true. It is not true that the driver of the other car was drunk, that he had been drinking, or that there was any reason to believe he was drunk or had been drinking — or even that he was at fault. The late Mrs. Biden 'drove into the path of [the] tractor-trailer,' the police report says. But Biden, like every other third-rate ward-heeler of his ilk, thinks and speaks only in terms of good guys and bad guys, white hats and black hats — and if something bad happens to good people, then it must be because somebody in a black hat did something nefarious."

Blah, blah, blah.

He ended his piece, "He is a liar, a corruptor of institutions, and a grifter of the first order.

"But he’s not a socialist. I’ll give him that."

Well, that is not good but it is not worse than Hitler, is it? And that is the bar that Williamson set. So I must put Williamson down as a supporter of Joe Biden and the corruption, lies, and liberal Supreme Court justices he brings. By praising Biden however faintly for not being a socialist, Williamson eliminated Sanders as his candidate of choice.

This makes sense in that Biden is Hillary 2.0, and all the Never Trumpers supported her election and by proxy the appointment of Merrick Garland as the replacement for Justice Scalia. Garland, Scaia, at this time, what difference does it make?

I respect the voters who held their noses to vote for President Donald John Trump. They were rewarded. Some of them are his best supporters now, and some are his fiercest critics. All of them will vote for him on November 3, and that is all that matters.

While President Trump will win again without Williamson, rehabilitation is possible. Americans believe in redemption. A column apologizing for calling President Trump the Father-Führer -- and implying his supporters are Nazis -- would do it. A night dining on his words and roasted crow would serve as penance, and a lesson not to do it again.
