UHS Emergency/Trauma Teaching Day returns April 18

Highly respected leaders in the field of emergency medical care will be the speakers at UHS’ 32nd annual Patrick E. O’Hara, MD, EMS, Emergency Medicine/Trauma Teaching Day this April in Greater Binghamton. The seminar’s namesake, Dr. O’Hara, was one of the founders of emergency medical care at UHS.  

The one-day conference, designed for physicians, paramedics, emergency medical technicians and other first responders and clinicians, will be held from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., on Saturday, April 18, at the Doubletree by Hilton in downtown Binghamton. The conference also includes a buffet luncheon. 

The conference has been popular with the emergency medical community for three decades, drawing thousands of participants over the years and such prominent speakers as forensic pathologist Michael Baden, MD. 

This year’s presentations will include:

•Adam Fox, DPM, DO, FACS, Assistant Professor of Surgery, Section Chief, Trauma Rutgers - NJ Medical School on "The Five Questions of Conscience and Other Musings on Trauma Patient Care and Leadership".

•Raymond Shelton, Ph.D., F.A.A.E.T.S, Director of Professional Development at the National Center for Crisis Management on managing psychological trauma.

•Chief Ken Bouvier, NREMT-P, Deputy Chief of Logistics and Special Operations New Orleans - EMS (Ret.) on pre-hospital care for burns.

•Anthony Horton, BHS, NR-P, FP-C, TP-C, CCEMT, PNCCT, Director of Fire/EMS/Tactical EMS North American Rescue on tactical EMS products and their use.

•Adam Hatala, FP-C, NREMT-P, Flight Paramedic - LifeNet of NY & Paramedic Field Training Officer -Superior Ambulance and Devin M. Howell, DO, Advanced EMT-CC, Resident in Emergency Medicine Northwell Health - NSLU on "Wow, We Definitely Didn't Learn That in EMT Class".
