Actually, Rudolph was a Trump supporter

Jennifer Finney Boylan, a professor at Barnard College of Columbia University, wrote in the New York Times that Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is transgendered.

Boylan cited the fact that a woman provided the voice of Rudolph in the classic TV show. It was not his red nose that was the problem. No, no, no. It was his sexual diaspora, the professor said.

The professor also said Hermey the elf's problem was not that he wanted to be a dentist but that he was gay.

I have news for the professor. All elves are gay. They may be heterosexual as all get out, but they are still gay.

Conservatives get the point of the story: don't join the mob mocking the nonconformist because that guy with the big red nose you laugh at might save your life someday.

We get it because we live it every day. We live on the Island of Misfit Political Opinions.

We get that Rudolph, Hermey, and the entire population of the Island of Misfit Toys are queer. In fact every character in the show is queer.

By queer, I do not mean homosexual, I mean they are misfits. I will use oddball to avoid confusion.

Flying reindeer? Reindeer do not fly. Any reindeer who flies is an oddball.

Elves? Really? People are taller than three apples. Any elf is an oddball.

Santa and his wife are oddballs. Who lives at the North Pole?

Yukon Cornelius and Bumble the Abominable Snowmonster are so oddball that they really do not belong in the special.

But each oddball had a gift. The story ends with each person using his red nose or other oddity to make Christmas special. Even Bumble, who puts the star atop the Christmas Tree.

That is why people identify with the story of Rudolph. We are all at some point in our life an oddball.

The transgendered professor has figured how to make a buck off his nonconformity. Good for him.

Conservatives know well their queerness. As political nonconformists, we face the mob every day.

In Florida, a group of black kids cheered as a bigger and older black girl beat a white kid on a school bus. He wound up in the hospital with head injuries.
It is a terrible thing. The school handed out suspensions.

A nation that can accept a man who becomes a woman should be able to accept a kid in junior high wearing a Make America Great Again cap.
