Q & A with Henk Vos

Henk Vos, 52 years old from Punthorst in the Netherlands. He is the older brother of Bert and Jacob Vos and driver and co-owner of the Massey Ferguson 7726 component limited super stock tractor called ''Brothers Toy''. Henk also is a reigning European Champion in the 600kg compact diesel class which he won the title in 2009. What are you doing in your normal life?
Henk Vos: Eating, working, sleeping,
I work at a very large pastry factory, called Van Dijk at Zwartsluis, supply the factory, and dispose of finished products. What do you like to do in your free time, except Tractor Pulling?
Henk Vos: In my spare time, I enjoy doing things with family and friends, I also try to go into the woods twice a week on my ATB.
Last year I did an ATB tour of 200 km in one day. What do you like about Tractor Pulling?
Henk Vos: It has become a second family, think, designing and building is beautiful, appearance is important to me, everything has to fit as much as possible, the drive is of course, beautiful, but achieving as a team is just as beautiful.
And everything in the competition around it, determine what and how we want to do it, and what other teams do, also in other classes, just the technique and the was of thinking of everyone. What was your first Tractor Pulling event?
Henk Vos: I think the indoor van Kootwijkerbroek (NL) in 2000, the first time look at the compact diesel class before we started building our first machine. What is your favorite Event / Pulling track?
Henk Vos: I do have several, but I think Made's Powerweekend (NL) is at the top. When and where do you have driven a Pulling Tractor for the first time?
Henk Vos: I think it was in 2003 or 2004, but where the first, I really don't remember. What was your biggest success?
Henk Vos: It was our success, on the EC in Denmark 2006, our sister Aaltje first with the Sisters Enjoy, I first with the Ford ''Brothers Toy'' at the 2009 EC in the Netherlands.
Then we have immediately sold the IH compact diesel Sisters Enjoy, it was simply too much work to maintaining two machines.
My personal success is that then we have built a new machine and we got compliments from other teams about the appearance. I think that I am keeping a close eye on the proportions during construction.
After that the entire finish is also my job, my motto is also if he does not do it, it must still be beautiful, then is not due. Which Pulling classes do you like too?
Henk Vos: I think a lot of classes are beautiful, from farm stock to Grand National, as long as there is speed in it, if you can smoke a cigar during a run, I can’t keep the attendees with all due respect. What was your biggest disappointment?
Henk Vos: The major engine damage with the light modified in Stroe (NL), that was a really big disappointment, but that is why we ended up at the limited super stock. Which things must be changed in the future of the Tractor Pulling sport?
Henk Vos: Not so much, let’s all just respect and appreciate each other, no matter which group you belong to, we need all each other. What are your plans for the future in Tractor Pulling?
Henk Vos: Just make nice runs with the limited super stock, we don't have to win every game, but we are going to win. What was for you the most important moment in the sport?
Henk Vos: Every time we lose someone from the “Family” a minute of silence is requested at a Pulling match, then it is quiet, then there is still respect. What was your favorite Pulling Tractor project in the workshop during a winter?
Henk Vos: Then is no longer a competition, developing and applying new things that we have been thought up, innovating and improving. Something you want to say?
Henk Vos: Let’s go on with all of us, just do it normally, then you will act oddly enough. Thank you for your time and good luck for the furture!
