Dam is breaking -- for Democrats

In September and October, Democrats used the cliche "dam is breaking" in an effort to show that Republicans were boarding the Impeachment Bandwagon.

Michael Stern of USA Today gladly promoted this by writing, "the Ukraine scandal is prompting GOP defections not previously seen. John Kasich, former Ohio governor and 2016 Republican presidential candidate, publicly announced support for Trump’s impeachment on Friday. The next day, Rep. Francis Rooney, R-Florida, said he was shocked by Mulvaney’s on camera admission and may support impeachment. This announcement carries a special sting given that Rooney is on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and has been privy to some of the closed-door impeachment testimony."

Kasich now is no more a Republican than Obama is.

But a month after journalists told us President Donald John Trump's dam broke, we are witnessing actual, real leaks on the Democrat side as politicians realize the impeachment is a stinking skunk squirting on the party.

The Washington Examiner reported, "Democratic Rep. Brenda Lawrence of Michigan now favors censuring President Trump after backing impeachment proceedings over allegations that he withheld military aid from Ukraine for his personal benefit."

That is interesting.

Last month she said, "I feel strongly that for my legacy, for my time in history, sitting here at this table with an oath of office to protect this country, to protect the democracy of the United States of America, I cannot sit silent, that I must move forward with [impeachment] because this is egregious."

But after 2 weeks of testimony, she said, "You can censure, you don’t have to remove the president.

"Sitting here, knowing how divided this country is, I don’t see the value of kicking him out of office, but I do see the value of putting down a marker saying his behavior is not acceptable."

It is not that a Republican Senate will acquit President Trump. That was a given all along.

The truth is impeachment is backfiring because people see through Democrats. They tried to get President Donald John Trump on Russiagate. That turned out to be a hoax. A few months later Democrats came up with Ukrainegate which sounds an awful lot like Russiagate.

The public is not buying it.

The problem for Democrats is they promised their hard-core supporters an impeachment. No impeachment, no support.

Oh well, at least they converted John Kasich.
